Answerly AI ("we", "our", or "us") is a Chrome browser extension that helps students solve quiz and assignment questions on Canvas LMS using AI. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Information We Collect

• Activation code – When you activate the extension you provide a licence code. We store this code (hashed) on our servers to verify your subscription status.
• Email address – Collected at purchase (via Stripe) solely to deliver your activation code and subscription receipts.
• Quiz question text & answer options – When you request a hint or answer, the question text and multiple-choice options visible on your screen are sent to our server and forwarded to Google Gemini AI to generate a response. This data is not stored after the response is returned.
• Screenshot images – If you use the Screenshot Tool, the captured image is sent to our server and forwarded to Google Gemini AI. Images are not stored after the response is returned.

2. Information We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect your name, address, or any government-issued ID.
• We do not collect your Canvas login credentials or passwords.
• We do not track your browsing history beyond Canvas quiz pages you actively use the extension on.
• We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To verify your active subscription and authenticate API requests.
• To deliver quiz hints and answers via the Google Gemini AI API.
• To send transactional emails (activation codes, receipts) via Brevo.
• To process payments securely via Stripe.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policy:

• Google Gemini AI – processes question text and images to generate answers. Google Privacy Policy

• Brevo – sends transactional emails. Brevo Privacy Policy
• Render – hosts our backend server in the United States.

5. Data Retention

Activation codes and subscription records are retained for as long as your subscription is active and for up to 90 days after expiry for support purposes. Question text and images sent for AI processing are not stored beyond the duration of the API request.

6. Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Activation codes are stored as salted hashes. We do not store payment card information — all payments are handled directly by Stripe.

7. Children's Privacy

Answerly AI is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Your Rights

You may request deletion of your account data at any time by emailing us. We will remove your activation code record and associated email within 30 days.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
